About the Founder
Lead Pastor
Dr Gabriel Osabuohien (fondly called Dr ‛Riel) is the Lead Pastor of Word Pasture Church. He is a minister of the gospel with a strong pastoral and teaching grace, carrying a mandate to shepherd God’s people by revealing the heart of the Father and helping believers align with His will.
Dr ‛Riel began his ministry journey while still an undergraduate of Optometry at the University of Benin, Edo State, where he founded Word Pasture Church. Under his visionary leadership, the ministry has grown to establish three physical locations, raising and mentoring a generation of young men and women who share his passion for God and are boldly advancing the Kingdom.
He is widely known for his sincerity, humility, and unwavering commitment to God’s Word. A down-to-earth teacher, Dr ‛Riel communicates deep spiritual truths with remarkable clarity—often using wise, relatable, and humorous illustrations that bring both spiritual and mental freedom to his listeners.
Dr ‛Riel’s ministry extends into key areas of life through special syndicate expressions such as Money, Business & Economics, where he teaches kingdom-based financial principles, and Love and The Word, where he brings biblical wisdom for thriving marriages and relationships. His teachings are holistic, touching every part of life with balance and insight.
He is the founder of Fathers Barn, a ministry dedicated to reaching, supporting, and lifting the less privileged in society—an initiative whose outreaches continue to transform countless lives. He also serves as the Chief Editor of Shepherd’s Diary, a free monthly publication designed to equip believers with practical steps for effective discipleship.
Beyond ministry, Dr ‛Riel is a trained Optometrist, and together with his wife, he oversees Friel’s Eye Clinic, located in the heart of Benin City, Nigeria. He is married to Faith Osabuohien (née Ekunazom), a devoted minister of the gospel and a practicing nurse. Their union is blessed with two lovely sons.
